Build, test and stage on the production stack
The same Windows Server 2025, IIS and databases production runs on, with administrator access, so what works on staging works when it ships.
Staging that matches production
The commonest deployment surprise is a staging environment that does not match production. An Infosaic VPS removes it: staging is a Windows Server 2025 machine with IIS, ASP.NET, PHP, SQL Server Express and MySQL configured the same way the production VPS is, because it is the same build. Publish to staging, test, publish to production.
What developers use it for
- A build server that runs on a schedule and does not slow down anyone's laptop.
- Several staging sites and test databases on one server, each in its own application pool.
- A shared Windows environment for a team that works on Macs.
- Reproducing a customer's problem on a clean server, then destroying it.
- An always-on machine for integration tests and long-running jobs.
Standard is the plan for this
Eight gigabytes and six virtual cores carry a build, several staging sites and their databases at once. A single staging site fits on Light; a team's whole environment belongs on Pro.
The plan for this: Standard
8 GB of memory, 6 virtual cores, 60 GB system drive and 200 GB data drive, for $39.99 a month, on a Dell Hyper-V host with full isolation. The other three plans are the same server with more or less memory and processing power.
Common questions
Can I install my own tools?
Yes. You are the administrator: build agents, runtimes, Node.js, Python, Git, whatever the pipeline needs.
Can I reset the server to clean?
Ask support and the server is rebuilt to the standard image; or keep a Light VPS as the disposable one and this as the working one.
Can staging and production be on the same server?
They can, in separate application pools and databases. Most teams prefer a separate Light or Basic VPS for staging so a test cannot touch production.
Does it keep running when I disconnect?
Yes. Disconnecting closes your Remote Desktop session; the server, the build and the jobs carry on.
