Windows VPS
Which plan do you need?
Tick what the server will run and the calculator names the plan. Every one of them is a Windows Server 2025 machine with the web stack configured, full administrator access and round-the-clock support.
Which plan, by what you run
Tick everything the server will do. The plan updates as you go.
- Websites
- Applications
- Databases
- Development
Tick what the server will run and the recommended plan appears here. If you are between two plans, take the smaller one - moving up later keeps the same server.
The full specification of all four plans, side by side, is on the VPS page.
The same answer in one question
Ask what the server will be doing at the busiest hour of an ordinary day.
- Serving one business site with its database and mail - Light.
- Serving several sites, a database and mail for the company - Basic.
- Running an application people use all day, with a working SQL Server database - Standard.
- Running a large database or several heavy services at once - Pro.
VPS, virtual desktop or dedicated server?
| Windows VPS | Virtual desktop | Dedicated server | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Built for | Software that answers the internet | A person working at it | Workloads that want the hardware to themselves |
| Operating system | Windows Server 2025 | Windows 11 | Windows Server |
| Isolation | Own virtual machine on Hyper-V | Own virtual machine on Hyper-V | Whole Dell machine |
| Access | Remote Desktop | Browser or Remote Desktop | Remote Desktop, control panel |
| From | $19.99 a month | $11.95 a month | $104 a month |
The short version: if software has to answer requests from the internet, you want a VPS. If a person is going to look at the screen all day, you want a virtual desktop. If the workload is large enough that sharing hardware is the problem, you want a dedicated server.
The four plans
Four plans of the same Windows Server 2025 machine, from one site to a server full of workloads. Full administrator access, the web stack configured, site transfer and round-the-clock support on all of them.
Common questions
What is the difference between the four VPS plans?
Memory, processing power and storage. Light has 2 GB of memory and 2 virtual cores; Basic has 4 GB and 4; Standard has 8 GB and 6; Pro has 16 GB and 8. Windows Server 2025 with the web stack configured, full administrator access, a dedicated IP, an unmetered 100 Mbps connection, site transfer, email and 24/7 support come with every plan.
Can I move up a plan later?
Yes. Change plan whenever you like; the same server gets the larger allocation. If you are between two plans, take the smaller one.
Is a dedicated server just a bigger VPS?
No. A VPS is a virtual machine with its own allocation on a shared host; a dedicated server is the whole machine. Pro is the largest VPS; beyond it, a dedicated server from $104 a month gives you the hardware to yourself.
