Infosaic Cloud compared with Azure Virtual Desktop

This page compares Infosaic Cloud Windows 11 virtual desktops with Azure Virtual Desktop. It is for buyers who know they want Windows in the cloud and need to separate a ready Desktop as a Service purchase from an Azure platform they will size and run. Read it if you are choosing between instant personal desktops and a host-pool architecture.

What each product is

Azure Virtual Desktop is Microsoft's desktop platform on Azure. You stand up a workspace and one or more host pools, pick virtual machine sizes, attach a virtual network, and decide whether each host is single-session or multi-session. Cost follows Azure consumption. User access rights come from qualifying Windows and Microsoft 365 licenses you already own or buy separately.

Infosaic Cloud is an independent hosting company's Windows 11 virtual desktop, sold as Desktop as a Service and VDI. Four packages cover light browsing through an advanced PC workload. Light uses Windows 11 LTSC with Office pre-installed but not activated, so the customer brings a license. Each desktop is for one interactive user.

AVD is the right shape when an IT team wants to size capacity, pool users, and integrate deep Azure networking. Infosaic is the right shape when the buyer wants a personal desktop without building a host pool.

How you get a desktop

Infosaic's main advantage is instant delivery. After signup the customer receives an email with the login. Provisioning time is zero.

Azure Virtual Desktop is a deployment. Someone creates the Azure resources, assigns an image, joins identity, publishes application groups, and then invites users. That work can be templated and later automated, but the first path is not a login email at the moment of purchase.

Access on both sides uses a browser or a Remote Desktop client. Infosaic also gives a direct web link. AVD uses the Windows App and Microsoft's Remote Desktop clients against the workspace you published.

Control, images, and software

Every Infosaic desktop includes full administrator rights. Users can install the applications they need without waiting for a golden-image pipeline.

On Azure Virtual Desktop you own the image. That is the product's strength for estates that already maintain FSLogix profiles, custom agents, and Intune or Group Policy. It is also the operational cost. Multi-session hosts need Shared Computer Activation for Office and careful profile design. Single-session AVD hosts can look closer to a personal PC, still inside the host-pool model.

HIPAA workloads can be discussed with Infosaic because the company has signed Business Associate Agreements before. Compliance of the facility sits with the data center, not with Infosaic, and this page does not list attestations. On AVD, compliance follow-through sits with how you configure Azure and with the data center regions you choose.

Network and isolation

Infosaic places each desktop on Hyper-V isolation in a United States data center. Redundant carriers blend traffic so that if one provider has an outage another continues the path. Each desktop receives a dedicated public IP and unmetered traffic.

Azure Virtual Desktop networking is the virtual network you attach. You decide subnets, network security groups, private endpoints, outbound NAT, and whether a host has a public IP. Egress is an Azure meter. That flexibility is why AVD is chosen for hybrid identity and on-premises routes. It is not a dedicated public IP included with the seat.

Neither product is described here as carrier-neutral. The practical difference is an included dedicated public IP and unmetered traffic on Infosaic versus an Azure network you design and pay for on AVD.

Packages and scale

Light is for light browsing and basic office work: 3 GB RAM, 4 virtual cores, Windows 11 LTSC. Basic is an office desktop replacement and is good for all office applications. Standard is for resource-hungry office applications such as advanced QuickBooks. Advanced is the most powerful package and matches the functionality of an advanced PC.

Azure Virtual Desktop does not sell four named packages. You pick VM families, including GPU SKUs when the workload needs them, and you scale session hosts up and down. Multi-session pooling is how AVD lowers cost for shift and bursty use. Infosaic does not pool people onto one Windows 11 desktop.

Billing, support, and commitments

Infosaic has no contract. Billing is monthly or annual. Support is staffed around the clock. There is no formal SLA.

Azure Virtual Desktop bills Azure compute, storage, and network for as long as the session hosts run, plus the user-access licenses those users need. Reservations and autoscale change the bill. Support is an Azure support plan plus the team that operates the host pools.

This page states Infosaic's published starting price and does not invent Azure unit rates. Compare a steady personal desktop with a consumption host pool rather than a single headline number.

Which one fits

Neither answer is wrong. These are the conditions that decide it.

Choose Infosaic Cloud when

  • You want a login email as soon as you sign up, with provisioning time of zero.
  • You need a dedicated public IP, unmetered traffic, and full administrator rights.
  • One person will use each Windows 11 desktop.
  • You do not want to design host pools, images, or Azure networking first.
  • You prefer monthly or annual billing with no contract.

Choose Azure Virtual Desktop when

  • You have an Azure subscription and a team that will run workspaces and host pools.
  • You need multi-session Windows to share a host across many users.
  • You need custom VNets, on-premises routes, or GPU session hosts.
  • Usage is bursty and you plan to autoscale or reserve Azure capacity.
  • Desktops must sit inside the same Azure estate as the rest of your compute.

The four plans

Four packages of the same fast-performing Windows 11 computer, from a light desk for browsing and email to a workstation-class machine. Administrator rights and round-the-clock support on all of them.

Common questions

Is Infosaic Cloud a replacement for Azure Virtual Desktop?

It replaces AVD only when you wanted a personal Windows 11 desktop and not a platform for host pools. It does not replace Azure.

Can several people share one Infosaic desktop?

No. A Windows 11 desktop on Infosaic Cloud is one interactive user at a time. AVD can run multi-session hosts when you configure them.

Who manages the machines on each product?

Infosaic delivers a finished desktop. On AVD you manage session hosts, images, scaling, and the virtual network.

Does AVD include a dedicated public IP and unmetered traffic?

Only if you add and pay for those Azure resources. They are not bundled the way they are on Infosaic Cloud.

Do I need Microsoft 365 for Infosaic?

No. Light includes Office files that are not activated, so you bring your own license if you need Office. AVD user access still depends on qualifying Microsoft licenses.

Is there a contract or a formal SLA?

Infosaic has no contract and no formal SLA. Support is staffed around the clock. AVD follows Azure commercial terms and the support plan you buy.
