Virtual desktop infrastructure
VDI: a private network of desktops, built from one gold image
A company that signs up gets its own virtual network in the cloud at no charge. Configure one desktop the way you want it, tell us, and we replicate it into as many desktops as you need.
What VDI means here
Virtual Desktop Infrastructure is a fleet of desktops rather than one: every person in a company works on an identical Windows machine, provisioned from a single master copy, on a network that belongs to the company. The traditional way to get there is to buy the servers, the hypervisor licenses, the storage and the broker software, and hire someone to run them. The Infosaic way is to rent the desktops and let the platform do the rest.
Each desktop is one of the four standard packages, at the standard per-desktop price. There is no platform fee, no per-user charge on top and no minimum number of desktops. The private network that connects them is included for a company account at no charge.
Your own network in the cloud
When a company signs up, we set up a private virtual network for it on Infosaic Cloud. Desktops on that network see each other over private addresses that nothing outside the company can reach, the way PCs in one office see each other over the office LAN - except that the office can be anywhere with a browser. Shared folders, an internal application, a printer server or a line-of-business database can sit on the network and be reached from every desktop on it.
Every desktop keeps its own dedicated public IP address and unmetered traffic for the outside world. The private network is in addition to that, not instead of it.
How it is set up: one gold image, then copies
- Sign up for one desktop in the package your people will need. It is delivered instantly, like any other order.
- Configure it as the gold image. Install the company's programs, set the policies, add the printers, join whatever needs joining, sign in to what everyone will use. Full administrator rights make this an afternoon's work rather than a project.
- Contact support and tell us it is ready. We arrange the replication: the gold image is copied into as many desktops as you need, each a separate Windows 11 machine on the company's private network, each billed at its package price.
- Hand out the logins. When someone joins, another copy; when someone leaves, a cancellation. The gold image stays available for the next round.
The replication is done by Infosaic staff on request rather than by a self-service console, which is deliberate: it is checked before it is cloned, the copies come out identical, and there is no broker software for you to run or license.
What it is good for
- Offices where everyone needs the same programs, configured the same way, without a server room to keep them on.
- Accounting, legal and medical practices that want one controlled build - the same versions, the same settings, the same security - on every seat.
- Seasonal hiring: a batch of identical desktops in the morning, cancelled when the season ends, the gold image kept for next year.
- Contractors and remote staff who need to be inside the company network without a VPN on their own devices.
- Companies replacing a fleet of aging PCs one seat at a time, from any device that has a browser.
What stays yours, what stays ours
You own the gold image and everything on it: the programs, the settings, the data. You are the administrator on every copy. We run the hosts, the storage, the private network and the platform, keep them patched, and answer support around the clock. One Windows 11 desktop is licensed for one interactive user at a time, so the count of desktops is the count of people.
The four plans
Four packages of the same fast-performing Windows 11 computer, from a light desk for browsing and email to a workstation-class machine. Administrator rights and round-the-clock support on all of them.
Common questions
What does the private network cost?
Nothing. A company that signs up gets its virtual network on Infosaic Cloud at no charge. You pay the standard per-desktop price for each desktop on it.
Is there a minimum number of desktops?
No. VDI starts with one desktop - the gold image - and grows by one copy at a time. There is no platform fee and no minimum seat count.
How do I ask for the replication?
Open a support ticket from your client portal, or email support, saying which desktop is the gold image and how many copies you need in which package. Support arranges it and sends you the logins.
Can the copies be a different package from the gold image?
Tell support which package you want for the copies when you request the replication; each copy is billed at its own package price.
Can I update the gold image later and roll the change out?
Yes. Update the gold image, then ask support to replicate it again for new seats. Existing desktops keep running as they are; you can replace them with fresh copies whenever you choose.
Can a server sit on the network too?
Yes. An Infosaic VPS or dedicated server can be placed on the same private network to act as a file server, an application server or a domain controller. Ask support when you set up the network.
Do people need a VPN to reach the network?
No. Each person opens their own desktop through a browser or a Remote Desktop client; the desktop is already on the private network. Nothing is installed on the person's own device.
