Virtual desktops (VDI, DaaS) and servers from Infosaic Cloud, since 2001

Virtual desktops

Fast where it counts

A virtual desktop is only worth having if it is quicker than the machine it replaces. Here is where the speed comes from.

The computing happens on a server

An Infosaic desktop is a virtual machine on a Hyper-V host in a data center: hardware built for continuous load, kept patched and monitored around the clock, and refreshed on our schedule rather than yours. Each desktop has its own allocation of memory and virtual cores - three gigabytes and four cores on Light, up to twenty gigabytes and sixteen cores on Advanced - and nobody else's programs run inside it.

That is the difference between a desktop that gets slower every year and one that does not. The machine under your desk ages; the host under your desktop is our problem, not yours.

Vanilla Windows 11

The desktop ships as plain Windows 11 with a pre-activated license and nothing else: no manufacturer utilities, no trial antivirus, no pre-installed anything competing for memory at start-up. What runs on it is Windows, its updates, and the programs you choose to install with your administrator rights.

Windows running as a cloud desktop

A data-center connection, unmetered

Every desktop sits on the data center's redundant carriers with blended traffic and its own dedicated public IP. Downloads, web applications, cloud sync, large transfers and anything that talks to the internet run at data-center speed, with no bandwidth cap, no fair-use threshold and no overage charge. Your own connection only has to carry the screen, which is why the desktop feels quick even on hotel Wi-Fi.

It keeps working when you leave

Close the laptop, lose the Wi-Fi, switch to the phone: the desktop carries on at full speed. The export finishes, the batch job completes, the agent keeps running, the download lands. Open it again from any device and it is exactly where you left it, with the same windows open.

The device in front of you stops mattering

The desktop does the computing and your screen shows the result. A five-year-old laptop, a Chromebook, an iPad or a thin client gets the same speed as a new workstation, because none of the work is being done on it. That is also why a hardware refresh stops being a purchase and becomes a plan change.

Room to grow

Change plan whenever you like. Moving from Basic to Standard gives the same desktop - the same files, programs and settings - more memory and more cores, without rebuilding anything. If you are between two plans, take the smaller one and move up when the work asks for it.

The four plans

Four packages of the same fast-performing Windows 11 computer, from a light desk for browsing and email to a workstation-class machine. Administrator rights and round-the-clock support on all of them.

Common questions

Is it faster than my current PC?

For most office work, yes. The desktop runs on a server-class host with its own memory and cores, on vanilla Windows with nothing pre-installed to slow it, and on a data-center connection. Anything that waits on the network - downloads, web applications, cloud sync - is markedly quicker. If your current machine is a recent high-end workstation, choose Standard or Advanced to match it.

Does a slow internet connection make the desktop slow?

Only the screen travels over your connection, so the desktop itself runs at full speed regardless. A modest broadband or 4G connection is enough to work comfortably; what you notice on a poor connection is the picture, not the computing.

Is the hardware shared with other customers?

The host is shared, as with any cloud service; the desktop is not. Each desktop is its own virtual machine with its own allocation of memory and virtual cores, and nothing running in another customer's desktop runs inside yours.

Which plan is fastest?

Advanced, with sixteen virtual cores and twenty gigabytes of memory. But speed is about fit: Light is quick for a browser and email, and Basic is quick for a full office day. The calculator on the compare page matches the plan to what you actually run.

Can I add more memory or cores later?

Yes. Change plan whenever you like and the same desktop gets the larger allocation, with your files, programs and settings untouched.
