Virtual desktops (VDI, DaaS) and servers from Infosaic Cloud, since 2001

Virtual desktops

Which plan do you need?

Tick what you run and the calculator names the plan. Every one of them is a fast-performing Windows 11 computer with administrator rights and round-the-clock support - you are only choosing how much memory and processing power to give it.

Which plan, by what you run

Tick everything that is usually open on a busy afternoon. The plan updates as you go.

  • Everyday
  • Spreadsheets and accounts
  • Industry software
  • Technical

Tick a few tasks above and the recommended plan appears here. If you are between two packages, take the smaller one - moving up later is straightforward.

The full specification of all four plans, side by side, is on the virtual desktops page.

The same answer in one question

Ask what is open on your screen at four o'clock on a busy afternoon.

  • A browser and a mailbox, plus a document now and then - Light.
  • The mail client, the browser, a spreadsheet, the accounting package and your industry's software, all at once - Basic.
  • The same list, but one of those programs regularly makes you wait - Standard.
  • A list long enough that you have stopped closing things to make room - Advanced.

If you are between two, take the smaller one. Moving up a plan later is straightforward and you pay the difference from that point.

When a desktop is the wrong product

A virtual desktop is a machine you sit in front of. Two other things at Infosaic look similar and solve different problems.

The short version: if a person is going to look at the screen all day, you want a desktop. If software needs to answer requests from the internet, you want a VPS. If the workload is large enough that sharing hardware is the problem, you want a dedicated server.

The four plans

Four packages of the same fast-performing Windows 11 computer, from a light desk for browsing and email to a workstation-class machine. Administrator rights and round-the-clock support on all of them.

Common questions

What is the difference between the four virtual desktop plans?

Memory, processing power and storage. Light has 3 GB of memory and 4 virtual cores; Basic has 10 GB and 8; Standard has 14 GB and 12; Advanced has 20 GB and 16. Windows 11 with the license included, full administrator rights, a dedicated IP, unmetered traffic, instant delivery and 24/7 support come with every plan.

Can I move up a plan later?

Yes. Change plan whenever you like and pay the difference from that point.

Should I choose a virtual desktop or a VPS?

Choose a virtual desktop if a person is going to sit in front of it and work. Choose a VPS if you need to run a website or an application that answers requests from the internet. They look similar and solve different problems.

Which plan is best for QuickBooks?

Basic handles day-to-day books alongside Excel and email. If the company file has grown over many years, Standard is the better fit.
